Clowning Around

DSC_0278So last night I went shopping to try and find Fletcher a costume. I thought it would be quick and simple, but instead it was quite the opposite. I hit Target, Party City, and Petsmart. Target had a few options which I bought and took home. Only to find out they were too big. Yep, that’s right too big. We never have that problem with Fletcher. Everything is always skin tight. On a positive note, I did find him a costume we will just be exchanging it for a different size, a smaller size! Imagine that! So with that being said I wanted to share a few tips about finding the right costume for your pet.

First off, know what you want. This can be hard to decide because there are multiple adorable costumes, but knowing what you are looking for will make the process a little bit easier. That way when you enter the store you can get down to business. Second, if at all possible know your pups size. Some may say, “I’ve never dressed my dog so I don’t know their size. For that I say, buy your costume in store instead of online and try to take your pet with you! Or, if that is not an option; measuring always helps. A lot of times costumes will have the dimensions that will fit in that specific costume. Sometimes they don’t though, so it is always good to have a back up. Third, you know your pet better than anyone else. So when choosing a costume, choose wisely. Maybe your furry friend does not like things touching their head, or maybe they don’t like their feet touched. Know what bothers them so you can choose a costume that your pet will wear. On a personal note, I put a costume on Fletcher last night and he tore it off, so much for that one. Last but not least, make sure that your pet is comfortable. A lot of times these costumes are poorly and cheaply made and do not always feel good. They may rub the wrong way or fit to snug, whatever the cause of the discomfort; make sure you are aware. Give your pet plenty of room to move around and breathe, we never want to make them uncomfortable. And remember, pets aren’t REALLY meant to wear clothes. So if you have that pooch that just won’t wear a costume, that’s okay too! After all, who doesn’t want to be a cute and furry dog for halloween? Our furry friends practically have built in costumes! Happy Thursday friends. Below is a list of places where you can find/order pet costumes! Beware, there are some hilarious ones. Here, here, and here!
